The Cape School of Art presents Painting Provincetown in Winter
The Cape School of Art
presents
Painting Provincetown in Winter
Spend a Weekend (or two!)
"Painting Winter Light"
with Mary Giammarino
Painting is a job that needs to be practiced all times of the year. It is beneficial to keep our eye and hand honed for us always to be moving forward with our painting skills. What kinds of things do we paint in winter?
North Light Still Life
Saturdays and Sundays
February 11 and 12
and
February 25 and 26
9:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
The use of north light, as opposed to artificial light, is perfect for studying. I will show you how to set up and explore moody, subtle and beautiful still lives. When we paint still life we are studying subtle variations. The ability to make things "round" and to study composition and color. These skills help when you take it outside into a sometimes overwhelming world.
Cost: $100 USD per day
(Students may sign up for just one day or for the weekend.)
To register, please contact Registrar Suzanne Harding at

The Adventures of Tom & Atticus in Provincetown
From the Blog of Tom and Atticus
Provincetown Sojourn
For each of the past three winters, Atticus and I have headed to the Outer Cape and rented an affordable off-season house in Provincetown. We go for the walks on the beach, we go for a change of pace, but more than anything, we go for the vast horizons and the incredible light. We'll always love mountains best, but it's great to get to the sea as well. And each time we return to the beach it's a return to Atti's childhood (or is that puppyhood?). When he was young we spent our mornings and evenings romping on the beach at Plum Island. We don't get back to Plum Island very often any more, but that's all the more reason for us to get out to PTown once a year in what is the darkest season in the mountains.
