Showgirls Poster
Ryan Landry
Playwright and entertainer Ryan Landry returns for another season at the Crown & Anchor with the ever-popularShowgirls and an encore presentation ofThe Gulls.
A Provincetown staple on Monday Nights, Showgirls is hosted by Ryan and offers a $500 prize for the winning act. Local entertainers, guest stars and anyone wishing to compete for the top prize perform. Slam poetry, dancers, traditional drag or amazing singers make this weekly event like American Idol with a John Waters' twist. With a different line-up every week, there is no telling what can happen atShowgirls!
Spoiled rich girl Melanie Daniels walked into a bird shop looking for love. What she found was "The Gulls." Award winning Playwrite Ryan Landry ("Whizzin'", "Phantom of the Oprah") brings back his biggest hit to date, "The Gulls." Based on Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece, "The Birds", "The Gulls" is based in Provincetown itself and that in itself is a vehicle for laughs. "The Gulls" playfully explores the corrupt politics of small town gentrification (while mixing it with environmental ignorance) to surprisingly hilarious effect. Past Gold Dust Orphan productions at The Crown & Anchor have included CleopatraGolden Squirrels,Cinderella RocksThe Septic WivesThe Gulls and Carrie.

BoatSlip Tea Dance

 Daily 4pm -7pm (season)

Every afternoon at the stroke of four, the deck of the Boatslip is transformed into Provincetown's biggest outdoor dance party. Hot bodies, good friends and great dance music make this daily event a "must-do" for seasoned travelers and first-time visitors alike. Resident DJ Maryalice, a Provincetown favorite for over 25 years, "mans" the wheels of steel, blending high energy house and club hits that leave the crowd breathless and begging for more. On Thursdays, DJ Maryalice turns back time as the Boatslip Resort hosts the wildly popular Solid Gold Tea. Dance classics from the 70's, 80's and 90's are the order of the day and judging by this heavily attended weekly event, the second time around really is better than the first! Check out our Events Page for the full 2012 Tea Dance Schedule.
